The PRS-600 ebook reader from Sony has been discontinued and we’re probably looking at a very near launch of the PRS-650 model. B&H is the retailer that shows it as discontinued, though the PRS-300 is still in stock. The PRS-300 will be replaced by the PRS-350. Launched on year ago, the PRS-600 comes with a 6 inch touch screen, but it doesn’t have any wireless.

eken-m003 Eken, a Chinese ebook manufacturer, has recently launched an eBook reader called M003. This model from Eken has an LCD display with an 8 inch size and a resolution of 800×480. It also has a 600MHz processor model Rockchip 2808A, Wi-Fi, 128 MB of RAM, Android 1.5 as an OS and a touchpad. You can choose between the 2GB and 4GB capacity of flash memory, though you can also add an SD or SDHC card. There are three colors: pink, black and white. The price of the Eken M003 is $240.

If you’re using only the electronic ink panel, you will get around 16 hours of reading out of the device, while using both, including the LCD, will drop the reading time to 6 hours. Chances are that the device will be used either for one screen or the other, and not both at the same time, so the usage will be somewhere in between. The price of the device is $499.

iRex Dr800sg The latest eReader launched by IREX is the DR800SG and it can be shipped right now. The ebook reader can be ordered from their site right now, but it will also be available in stores as well in the coming months. This reader comes with access to over 750,000 titles from the Barnes & Noble ebook store.

The iREX DR800SG comes with 3G wireless access, a screen with a 8.1 inch size, a total capacity of 1500 ebooks (2 GB capacity) and it can read a number of formats, like EPUB, PDF, TXT, eReader and more. The price of the DR800SG will be $399.99.

The screen resolution is 600×800 and the screen has a PPI of 166. You can read both in normal and landscape view, and you can read txt, html, pdf and mobi files.

It has USB 2.0 connectivity and a 512 worth of internal storage, which should be sufficient to read books for at least a year. You can extend that with a SD card. The price is around $350.

05 JanSkiff Reader Will Have A 11.5 Inch Display

Skiff-Reader-300x189 Sprint and Skiff are working together to create the largest ebook reader, with a display that is 11.5 inches in size. It will be shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in a few days and with the help of Skiff Service, you will receive on it magazines, newspapers and books. If you like to read newspapers, this will be the reader to own. The price isn’t known yet, but we do have some of its features below:

  • 3G wireless which will be based on Sprint’s network
  • a 11.5 inch display (2 inches larger than that of the Kindle), with 0.25 inch in thickness
  • resolution of 1200×1600
  • weight is less than 1 lbs
  • it’s a touchscreen

10 DecCOOL-ER eBook Reader Will Come With WiFi and AT&T 3G In 2010

While current reviews of the COOL-ER  ebook reader don’t really impress, they seem to want to boost its features. Next year, they will release WiFi capabilities and AT&T 3G options to the device. These features are expected at some point in 2010, probably mid year.

This ebook reader measures 175 x 122 x 11 mm and its weight is only 220 grams. The display is an epaper touchscreen, measuring 6 inches, with a resolution of 800×600. The nReader K60 comes with a 2GB storage area where you can keep up to 4,000 books, plus the option to use a microSD card to extend that capacity.

Some of the other options of the BenQ nReader K60 are a USB 2.0 and a mini USB port, WiFi and an audio jack. It can read PDF, ePub, txt, jpeg, html, gif, bmp, png and mp3 files. The price of this eBook reader isn’t known yet.
